The idea of what was to become Iguana Kitchen and Quantum Audio
Mechanics first began nearly 10 years ago. At that time our founder,
John Pellegrini, had been working in audio production for the broadcast
industry for 20 years (now nearly 30 years). Having spent a lot of that
time working with sound effect libraries he’d noticed that there weren’t
too many libraries of all new recordings. Yes there were
lots of libraries coming out that were remixes of older libraries
(around that time the term “audio architecture” began to be used quite a
bit) – but there were very few collections of brand new sounds that had
never been released before.
So began a long period of research and conceptualizing of what would constitute a really new and improved sound effects library. At the same time surround sound had come into its own as the new direction for movies, video games, and home theater. And the question that kept coming to mind was, “what would be the ultimate sound effects collection we could offer to you – our customers - at the most affordable price?” The one-word answer we kept coming back to was “flexibility”. A sound effects collection that could be used in any surround sound format, with the highest sampling rates possible for maximum audio control and shelf life. And now, nearly 10 years later we proudly present Quantum Audio Mechanics. One of the things we think helps set us apart from other sound effect libraries is that we’re not a film production company that’s just marketing leftover sounds that we’ve used before. We’re an audio company with an emphasis on sound quality and all new recordings. No re-mixes, recycling, or revisions. Along the way we also put together Childspeak - a collection of the most common phrases needed for commercial and promotional voiceover from a five year old; Death To Mike - a collection of microphones being horribly abused for truly intimate impacts (this was done during our surround equipment research frustration period), and we’re working with a couple of composer/musicians who are developing some new music libraries for us to offer on one time buyout, which we will be releasing shortly. In addition we plan on more volumes of Quantum Audio Mechanics featuring sounds where few have dared to go before.
